Wilfully illtreats or neglects a child or causes the child to be treated in a manner likely to cause actual bodily harm, injury to health or any mental disorder

When a child is a witness to violence resulting in or having potential to result in death or injury

Critical- child is in immediate risk and needs protection
Very urgent - child is at risk but not immediate danger
Urgent- child is at risk but protect in short term
When should you NOT question a child
1- If the child has made a clear disclosure to an adult and that person can give you the info
2- If it is unclear what the child has and there are NO urgent safety
When can you question a child
If necessary to establish safety but only use open ended question. But once that child has disclosed an offence STOP.
