CA SC ruled in favor of Gita Landeros (via adoptive parents) in suit against Dr. Flood for medical negligence - established the basis for civil liability, malpractice in failing to diagnosis and report battered child syndrome
White v. Illinois, 502 U.S. 346 (1992)
SCOTUS ruled that defs charged with molesting children have no absolutely right to confront young accusers at trial and allowed statements made by victim outside of court to be presented to jury

SCOTUS ruled that a requirement of clear and convincing evidence was necessary to protect parents’ rights
Dupuy v. Samuels (7th Cir. 2005)
case regarding DCFS’s procedures for investigating and disclosing child abuse and neglect allegations. The plaintiffs sought injunctive relief, claiming that the procedures violated their due process rights
Kentucky v. Stincer (1987)
defendant accused of sexually abusing a child could be excluded from a pretrial hearing at which the child is questioned to determine competency to testify

Court ruled that trial court erred in allowing psychotherapist’s testimony about his admission of sexually abusing his stepdaughter, as it was not mandated reporting
