when a word is given a wider meaning, more frequent than under-extension, out of 50 words a child learns it is estimated that over 1/3 will be over-extension
What was Eve Clark’s (1977) study?
children base over-extension on physical qualities of objects, features such as the 5 senses
What are the 2 components of phonological simplification?
deletion and substitution

when a child doesn’t say the final consonants, unstressed syllables, consonant clusters reduced

substituting easier sounds for harder sounds
