Bigender
Fluctuates between male and female gender-based identities
Cisgender
Biological sex at birth and gender identity are the same
Gender expression
The external display of one’s gender, usually on a scale of masculinity and femininity
Gender queer
Does not identify as a man or woman/umbrella term for non-binary and non-conforming identities
Intersex
A person born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t seem to fit the definitions of male or female
Gender variant
A person who either by nature or by choice does not conform to gender-based expectations of society
Mx
Gender neutral version of Mr, Mrs
Gender fluid
A mix of boy and girl. A person may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel one gender more than the other on some days
Transgender
A person who identifies as a gender other than the expected gender based off the sex assigned at birth
Third gender
Gender other a man or woman
What are the factors that determine gender?
Prenatal hormones, development of male or female genitalia, parents assign as male or female and raise accordingly
