Q

Give the process of working out a chi-squared

A
  1. Work out expected results using the ratios from the genetic cross and total amount of observed numbers.
  2. Minus the expected number from the observed number.
  3. Square the answer.
  4. Divide that answer by the expected numbers to give you a decimal for each phenotype.
  5. Add the decimal for each phenotype to get your final answer.

Q

What does the table used to gain a different number show

A

The new number is the probability that the difference between the expected and observed results are due to chance.

Q

What probability is deemed ok
And what does it mean

A

0.05
Means that these differences would occur in 5 out of every 100 experiments.

6
Q

What should the answer be if the probability is 0.05 or larger
Does this support or reject the null hypothesis

A

The difference between the observable and expected results are due to chance and there is no significant difference between expected and observed.
