A

Thickened, edematous interlobular septa. Causes include; 1. pulmonary edema

  1. lymphangitis carcinomatosa
  2. malignant lymphoma
  3. viral and mycoplasmal pneumonia
  4. interstitial pulmonary fibrosis

What is the silhouette sign?

A

Elimination of silhouette of soft tissue caused by a mass or fluid in the normally air filled lung
- EG: an intrathoracic opacity is in anatomic contact with the heart border obscuring its border
