Chest Muscles Flashcards
Origin and name of 3 pec major heads
clavicular, Manubrial, Sternocostal. From upper 6 costal cartilage, medial anterior clavicle, and manubrium
Insertion of Pec Major and tendon structure
Trilaminar tendon inserting into lateral bicepital groove and anterior deltoid tuberosity. Anterior part inserts into surgical neck of humerus, posterior part (costal cartilage) rounds behind and inserts into shoulder capsule.
Nerve Supply of Pec Major
Medial and Lateral Pectoral Nerves C5-T1 (only muscle in upper limb innervated by all nerve roots.
Pec Minor Origin
3,4,5 Ribs 2
Insertion of Pec Minor
Medial border of coracoid. Importantly not the tip.
Nerve Supply of Pec Minor
C6,7,8. Both medial and lateral pectoral nerves.
Origin and insertion of subclavius
1st costochondral joint inserts along subclavian groove of first rib
Innervation of subclavius
C5,6 has its own nerve off the superior trunk (nerve to subclavius)
Describe the clavipectoral fascia
From clavicle in wraps subclavius then forms hollow above pec minor the wraps around pec minor
Name the ligaments the clavipectoral fascia creates
Costocoracoid - above the pec minor
Supsensory ligament of axilla below the pec minor
What passes through the clavipectoral fascia
Cephalic vein, Thoracoacromial artery, Lateral pectoral nerve, Lymphatics
Name the branches of thoracoacromial artery
Humeral, clavicular, acromial, pectoral
How do the veins pierce the clavipectoral fascia
They joint the cephalic before passing through. ( the opposite to the arteries)
