When is the heart considered too large?
When cardiac - Thoracic ratio is too large - above 50%.
What are accessory fissures?
Azygous fissure lobe fissure - failure of normal posterior migration of azygous vein.
left minor fissure - separates lingular from remainder of the Left upper lobe.
Superior accessory fissure
inferior accessory fissure.
On an x ray which part of the heart do you see - anterior side?
lateral border of the right atrium and lateral border of the left ventricle.
What is a costophernic angle and recess.
Angle - Lateral chest wall and the dome of each hemidiaphragm.
- Recess - region btw anterior and posterior costophernic angles.
Where does the olique fissure start and finish?
T4/5 and ends at the 6th rib.
What is the difference between the right and left bronchus?
Right bronchi is shorter and fatter and more vertical than left. - more stuff goes down it. (aspiration(breathe something in) of foreign bodies , vomit into R bronchus).
Where does the trachea start?
C6 to T4/5 (carina)
What are the attachments to the diaphragm ?
- Lumbar - Right and left crus (right -arises from L1-L3, Left L1-2 and invertebral disc)
- Sternal - posterior aspect f the xiphoid process.
- Costal - 7- 12th rib and costal cartilages.
