Lit: people mountain, people see
Extremely crowded
盲人摸象 (máng rén mō xiàng)
blind men feeling an elephant
对牛弹琴 (duì niú tán qín)
to play the guqin to a cow
i.e. to not know one’s audience (particularly if they can’t appreciate what one’s doing)
先苦后甜 (xiān kǔ hòu tián)
first bitter, then sweet
something like “no pain, no gain”
夸父逐日 (kuāfù zhú rì)
Kuāfù chases the Sun
said in the context of someone pursuing something unattainable that will be to their detriment

sort of like the opposite of Kuāfù chases the Sun. Something like “where there’s a will, there’s a way”

to bite language and chew characters
meaning: to be overly picky
守株待兔 (shǒu zhū dài tù)
to wait under a tree for a rabbit
meaning: to wait for good things to come to you rather than going out and getting them
举一反三 (jǔ yī fǎn sān)
raise one, infer three
to be able to generate several further examples given a small number of them; to catch on to the pattern
井底之蛙 (jǐng dǐ zhī wā)
well (井) bottom (底) ‘s(之) frog (蛙) — frog at the bottom of the well
to have a limited perspective, thinking where you are is the best without knowing the alternatives
