chemistry topic 4 Flashcards
Solution
A mixture of one or more solutes dissolved in a solvent
Saturated Solution
A Solution containing the maximum concentration of a solute dissolved in a solvent at a specific temperature.
Aqueous
A solution where the solvent is water.
solute
A substance that is a substance that is dissolved in a solvent
Solvent
A substance dissolves a solute
Suspension
A cloudy mixture of an insoluble solid and liquid.
Soluble
A substance that can dissolve in a solvent.
Insoluble
A substance that cannot dissolve in a solvent.
solubility
How much solid (in grams) can dissolve in 100cm3 water.
Pure Substance
A pure substance contains only one chemical. it has its own physical properties as well as melting and boiling points.
Impure substance
when a pure substance is mixed with another chemical, without reacting it becomes an impure substance.
Dissolving
This is a physical change it happens when a solute dissolves
