Chemistry Test 3rd Quarter Flashcards
Relationship between Volume and Pressure when temp and # of molecules is constant?
Inversely Proportional (boyles Law)
Relationship between Temperature and Pressure when volume and # of molecules is constant?
Directly Proportional ( Gay-Alussac’s Law)
What is temperature directly related too? what is it measuring on molecular level?
Temperature is directly related too speed and kinetic energy of the particles/molecules
Why can an empty container be crushed by air pressure?
the temperature can heat it up first then cool it with ice air pressure will decrease and crush can,….(my part) because when heated the atoms rise out of the can from the top and then in water it all cools down and contracts because the can is empty
What happens if balloon is released into space?
explode, air pressure is lower the higher up you go so would be unequal
Molecular level, Why does gas pressure decrease as temperature decreases
temperature goes down so molecules will slow down, less collisions with walls so the pressure goes down
