Chemistry Terms (Reversed) Flashcards
A corrosive chemical substance that the ability to neutralize alkali. Opposite of a base on a pH scale.
Acid
A microscopic building blocks of matter and the foundations of chemistry
Atom
Typically expressed in atomic mass units. Atomic is the mass of an atom which can be figured out by adding protons and neutrons to the mass number
Atomic Number
Substances that are opposite of acids on the pH scale
Base
The point where the liquid reaches a temperature that allows to transform into vapor
Boiling Point
The process or result of oxidizing or being oxidized
Oxidization
A process that transforms a molecule or ionic composition of a substance
Chemical Reaction
An arrangement of elemental symbols and subscripts that convey the structure of a compound
Chemical Formula
The conversion of vapor or a gas to a liquid
Condensation
Any material that can submit sound, heat or electricity
Conductor
The sharing of electrons between two atoms
Covalent Bond
To breakdown or cause to breakdown into component element or simpler constituents
Decompose
Subatomic particles that carry a negative charge
Electron
Atoms or molecules that are not neutral in their charge. They are positive or negatively charged.
Ion
A type of ionic cohesion that occurs when two oppositely charged atoms or molecules attract one another
Ionic Bond
