Chemistry (feb mocks) Flashcards
1
Q
What is the aim of the sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid practical?
A
to investigate the effect of changing the temperature on the rate of reaction
2
Q
What is the method for the rate of reaction core practical?
A
1) Add 50cm^3 of dilute sodium thiosuphate solution to a conical flask
2) place flask on a piece of paper with a cross drawn on it
3) Add 10cm^3 of dilute hydrochloric acid to the conical flash and mix
4) when cross is no longer visible, strop clock and record time
5) repeat with different starting temps
3
Q
What were the results of the rate of reaction core practical?
A
As temperature increases, so does the rate of reaction, at higher temperatures by higher amounts
