Why is NaOH Added Very Slowly when Trying to Identify Metal Cations in Aqueous Solution? (2)

-If only a Small Amount is Added, it would Precipitate- not the Metal Cation.
-If Added in Excess, Some of the Precipitate may Dissolve.
