Chemistry Flashcards
Used for obtaining the masses of solid and liquid samples
Balance
A flat bottom, cylindrical piece of glassware used for mixing and heating compounds
Beaker
Attached to a gas line and wanted to provide heat for your experiments
Bunsen burner
And extremely accurate device with a stopcock at the bottom used to measure lines of regents
Buret
Used to avoid burning the surface of your lab bench and in curing your chemistry teacher’s wrath
Ceramic square
Used to hold a variety of things in place, particularly test tubes
Clamps
Used to hold the crucible while it is being heated
Clay triangle
Used to collect papers by convincing them into liquids as they contact the liquid – cooler inner surface of the condenser
Condenser
A cup – shaped container capable of sustaining high temperatures. It is used to hate chemicals
Crucible
Used to handle the hot crucible
Crucible tongs
Used to hold liquids. The small ever opening size evaporation, so for some volatile liquids, a flask is a better choice than a beaker. The shape also makes it more for mixing and swirling liquids during a titration
Erlenmeyer flask
a type of flask, generally round bottom, usually suspended and heated from below. It should say makes it easy to swirl and mix liquid inside of it
Florence flask
Used together when filter paper filter precipitates out of solution
Funnel
Use to precisely measure volume
Graduated cylinder
Used to measure out solid substances
Metal spatula
