Chemistry Flashcards
The order of a reaction
Is the way in which the concentration of a
drug or reactant in a chemical reaction affects the rate.
Define the following terms
a. Rate law
b. Rate constant
c. Reaction order
a. Rate law is an expression relation the rate of a reaction to the rate constand and concentation of the reactants
b. Rate constant is a constant of propotionality btw the rate of reaction and concentration of the reactants
c. Reaction order is the sum of the powers to which the reactant conc. appearing in the rate law as raised
State kinetics theory of gases
It states that gases consist of tiny particles that move in straight lines in constant motion to make perfectly elastic collisions with eash other
Assumptions of kinetic theory of gases
a. Particles are spherical in shape and bahave as point masses
b. Gas particles have negliglible volume
c. Intermolecular force of attraction are negligible
d. Collisions btw molecules are perfectly elastic
Boyle’s, Charle’s and Avogadro’s laws
a. Boyle’s law
Pressure is inversely propotional to volume at constant temperature and no. of moles
b. Charle’s law
Volume is directly propotional to temperature at constant pressure and no. of moles
c. Avogardo’s law
Volume is directly propotional to no. of moles at constant pressure and temperature
Assumptions of ideal gas
a. Gases don’t exert any force
b. Volume of the molecule is negligible very small compare to that of the container
