Chemistry 1.1.2 Flashcards
What are the properties of Solid?
-Particles closely packed
-inter particle forces if atracction are strong, particles vibrate in position
-Fixed Shape
-Fixed Volume
What are the properties of liquid
-particles more spaced
-inter molecular forces are weaker, particles can slide over each other
-No fixed Shape
-fixed volume
What are the properties of Gas ?
-particles fully spread out
- inter-particle forces of attraction are negligible, particles move freely
-No fixed shape
-No fixed volume
Why is the temperature constant during changes of state?
The heat energy produced is used in changing the state as well as the numerous bonds which have a inter particle force of attraction
What is the difference between physical and chemical reactions
Physical changes the state of matter but does not change the amount or create new substances
Chemical reactions involve the creation of new products as well as change in amount of initial reactions
