Lit splint on test tube causes a squeaky pop.
Carbon Dioxide
Add limewater to the gas. Will turn cloudy.
Oxygen
Glowing splint on test tube. Will relight.
Chlorine
Put damp red litmus paper into a test tube. Will turn white.
Ammonia
Turns damp red litmus paper blue.

Flame test steps
- Put Nichrome wire in Hydrochloric acid
- Place the loop in the sample, then the flame.
- Observe the colour change.
(Make sure the wire is clean, so the colour is accurate)
Carbonate
Add acid, fizzes. Lime water turns milky.
Sulfate
Add Hydrochloric acid and Barium Chloride, which goes to white precipitate.
Chloride
(Add silver nitrate) White precipitate
Bromide
(Add silver nitrate) Cream precipitate
Iodide
(Add silver nitrate) Yellow precipitate
Water test
Anhydrous Copper (II) Sulfate turns blue in the presence of water.
