Chemical Changes Flashcards
The substance initially present in a chemical reaction that is used to make products.
Reactants
New substance produces produced in a chemical reaction.
Products
The ability of a substance to burn or ignite.
Flammability
The degree to which a substance can harm (poison) a living organism.
Toxicity
The deterioration of a metal as a result of its interaction with the surrounding environment.
Corrosion
Able to be decomposed by the actions of living organisms.
Biodegradable
Not able to be composed by the actions of living organisms.
Non-biodegradable
A biodegradable plastic made from starch, derived from plants such as corn and potato.
Bioplastic
A gas, predominately methane, extracted from coal deposits.
Coal seam gas
Change in the form or state of a substance with no change to its chemical makeup.
E.g: change of state. Solid water-water-steam
