ENGINE START PROCEDURE

Which engine do you start first?

A

Normal procedure: start LH engine first

  1. Prop area - CLEAR
  2. Engine Master - ON
  3. Annunciations / Eng. Instr. - CHECKED
  4. Glow Indication - OFF
  5. Start Key - START (do no release below 500 RPM)
  6. Oil Pressure - OUTSIDE RED (w/in 3 seconds)
  7. Voltage, Electr. Load - CHECK INDICATION
  8. Annunciations / Eng. Instr. - CHECK

  • Idle for 2 minutes
  • Max 1400 RPM until Oil > 50c and Coolant > 60c

  2. RPM - DECREASE TO IDLE
  3. ECU Test button - RELEASE

Engine Failure During Ground Roll

  3. Brakes - AS REQUIRED

If sufficient time remaining, to reduce risk of fire:

  1. Engine Master - BOTH OFF
  2. Fuel Selector - BOTH OFF
  3. Electrical Master - OFF

Engine Failure After Lift Off

A

If landing gear extended and remaining runway adequate:
- Abort takeoff and land straight ahead, turning to avoid obstacles

If remaining runway / surface inadequate and decide to continue take-off:

  1. Power Lever - MAX
  2. Rudder - Maintain directional control
  3. Airspeed - Vyse 82kts
  4. Landing Gear - UP
  5. Flaps - CHECK UP
  6. Inop Engine - secure according to 3.5.3 ENGINE SECURING (FEATHERING) PROCEDURE
