What is Cardioplegia?
Cardioplegia is the intentional cessation of the heart to Asystole to slow metabolism and prevent damage to the myocardium during a surgical procedure. This is done with a specialized solution.
What is Levocardia?
Normal cardiac positioning in the thoracic cavity.
What is Dextrocardia?
Reversed positioning of the heart in the thoracic cavity.

What is Mesocardia
Heart positioning directly in the center of the thoracic cavity instead of slightly left. Meso = middle.

Define Atrial Situs.
Position of the Atria upon/within the heart.
What is Situs Inversus?
All cardiac structures are inverted/flipped within the thoracic cavity. A mirror image of the normal cardiac situs.
What is Situs Inversus Totalis?
All visceral structures inverted right to left including the heart.
If a patient has the right lung removed, what condition should you anticipate encountering?
Dextrocardia or Mesocardia due to extra thoracic space.
