What is Charge of the Light Brigade about
It is about a significant moment in Crimean War during the Battle of Balaclava. An order was given to British Army’s cavalry division and it was misunderstood so 600 of them went charging down this narrow alley where the Russians were waiting for them.
What did the Crimean War have in newspapers firstly and what did this show?
The Crimean War was the first war when newspapers had eyewitness accounts where they would detail not just the triumphs of war but also the mistakes and the horrors. The news made it back to Britain quickly.
