an anxiety disorder characterised by high levels of distress in response to specific stimuli

a mood disorder characterised by feelings of dispondency and hopelessness

an anxiety disorder characterised by persistent anxiety inducing thoughts and consequential repetitive behaviours to try to reduce the anxiety

- obsessions = uncontrollable, distressing
- an awareness of the excessive nature of obessions

- compulsions
- reduced social activity
what are compulsions
ritualistic, repetitive behaviours that attempt to reduce to anxiety of the obsession
what are the emotional characteristics of OCD
- anxiety and distress (from compulsions and obsessions)
- embarrassment and feelings of shame (aware of the excessive nature of their behaviour)
