What is a Protagonist?
Protagonists are often the character the main point of view of the story is told within, or even the main character.
What is a Antagonist?
An Antagonist is a character or internal conflict that hinders the objective of the Protagonist.
What is a Coming-Of-Age Story?
A coming-of-age story often entails either a loss of innocence or tells a story of growing up and learning important life lessons.
What is a Bildungsroman?
A Bildungsroman is essentially a coming-of-age story.
What is Epiphany?
Epiphany is a realization made by the character or narrator and can be either a positive or negative thing.
What are Round Characters?
Round characters are character in a story who- change throughout the story and display a wide variety of emotions, they are often protagonists.
What are Flat Characters?
Flat characters are characters who- are the complete opposite of Round characters, they usually lack complexity, and are often Antagonists.
What are foils?
Foils are Characters who illuminate or highlight the protagonist.
What are Stock Characters?
Stock Characters are characters who- rely on the universal understanding of common stereotypes to develop characters, which may provide comic relief or simply prevent a author from having to explain their traits in detail.
What is Direct characterization?
Direct characterization is when the narrator directly and explicitly tells readers about a characters appearance, personality, background, or motives.
What is Indirect Characterization?
Readers learn about characters because of what they say, do, or think, or what other characters say about them.
