main character in a work often a hero or heroine not always
What is Antagonists?
character in a story or play who opposes the protagonist intensifies a conflict
Coming of age story or Bildungsroman?
explores the maturation of protagonist usually moving main character form childhood to adulthood.
What is Epiphany?
a aha moment character suddenly struck with life changing realization
Round Characters?
A character exhibits range emotions evolves over course of story
What is Flat Characters?
embody 1 or 2 traits and who lacks character develpoment or called a static character.
What is Foil?
contrasting characters allows protagonist to stand out more distinctly
What is Stock Characters?
flat character based on a stereotype fall into category
What is Direct Characterization?
tells the reader who a character is by describing background motivation and or appearance
What is Indirect Characterization
Author shows rather then tells us what a character is like through what the character says or thinks.
