Chapters 8 - 9 Flashcards
1
Q
How to used dimensional analysis?
A
Find the variables required.
Make a general equation rating them to a generic power (alpha and beta) the tines them by a constant C.
Substitute the dimensions in (mass M, Length L & Time T)
equate all the powers of each dimension. (3 equations.)
Solve the equation to find the power.
2
Q
What are the Power coefficient and Flow coefficient in the dimensional analysis? (for pumps)
A
Kp = p / (w^2 * D^2 * rho) p = power KQ = Q / (w * D^3 *)
3
Q
What are the pressure coefficient and Head coefficient in the dimensional analysis? (for pumps)
A
pressure = /\p / (w^2 * D^2 * rho) /\p = Pressure differnecs
Kh = g*/\H / (w^2 * D^2)
4
Q
How does pump similarity work?
A
Make both equations equal to each other.
Then plug in the data given to you.
