They get the water they need through their skin. If their skin dries out they die.

How does the sapsucker depend upon trees?
it sucks the sap out of the tree
How has God designed the balance in the forest community?
Birds eat the insects. Without the birds to eat the insects, the insects would destroy the trees and other plant life of the forest. The birds benefit from the trees.
What kind of life begins a food chain?
a green plant
What kinds of trees do squirrels and chipmunks live around?
hickory and oak
How does a the porcupine benefit from trees?
It eats the twigs, leaves, barks, and roots
How does a beaver benefit from trees?
it cuts down trees to use for food and building its home

a mouse nibbles on seeds, an owl eats the mouse
Describe a food chain involving rabbits
a rabbit eats green plants on the floor of the forest. A fox eats the rabbit
Describe a food chain involving insects
insects eat plants, birds eat the insects, an opossum eats the baby bird, a fox may eat the opossum

How are fungi and bacteria helpful for the forest?
They work together to decay dead leaves.

Count the annual rings or circles at the end of the trunk. Each year stands for one years growth.
