What is osha
(occupational safety and health administration) enforces standards that make employers responsible for providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees
What is the osha formaldehyde standard
protects workers form occupational exposures to any form of fromaldehyde, including soultions gas or any materials that release into the workplace
1) sets workplace exposure limits
2) specifies personal protection equipment
3) sets employee training requirments
4) mandates periodic monitoring of workspaces and requires emergency plans for spills
what is pel
the permissible exposure limit (pel) for fomaldehyde in the workplace is .75 ppm measured as an 8 hour time weighted average
what is stel
short term exposure limit, 2 ppm, which is max exposure for 15 min
what are the record keeping requirements
employers are required to retain exposure records for 30 years, retain medical records for 30 years after employment ends, and allow acces to medical and exposure records to current and former workers or their designated representatives upon request
whats the osha hazard communication standard
is based on the concept that employees have both a need and a right to know the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to when working
hazard communication program
a written hazard communication program ensures all employees recieve the information they need to inform and train their employees properly and to design and put in place employee protection program, it also provides nessasary hazard info to employees.

also sds are detailed bulletins prepared by the manufacturer of the chemicle which it applies
what is the osha bloodborne pathogen standard
pathogons are infectious microorganisms in blood that can cause disease in humans. includes hep b and c, hiv. the standard for removals is universals precasutions ppe
what is the ada
americans with disabilities act, a federal statute prohibiting discrimination against the disabled in employment, public transport ect.
public accommodations
private accomadations are private entities who own, lease, lease to or operate facilities and are open to the public
ada public accommodation standards
1) for buildings and structures not occupied until after january 1993 the standards are not a strict becasue the building plans would have been achitectuarally designed to incorporate the ada requirements to provide accommodations for the disabled
2) for buildings and structures occupied before january 1993 the standards are stricter, ofted requiring renovations and redesigns to bring them into complience with ada requirments that did not exist when they were initianally designed and built
