Muckraking
writer or journalist of the early 1900s who uncovered shameful conditions in business and other areas of American life.
Company towns
Company towns sprang up around big business facilities and essentially provided everything for the town at a high cost, keeping the town perpetually in serfdom.
Sig: allowed slavery to continue based on economic status instead of race.
Niagra movement
black civil rights organization founded in 1905 by a group led by W. E. B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter
Sherman antitrust act
The act which established trusts as monopolies, leading to the breakup of trusts
Hepburn act
gave the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) the power to set maximum railroad rates and extend its jurisdiction.

Established set limits on quality, establishing that food and drugs consumed are safe

Woodrow Wilson’s campaign platform in the 1912 presidential election in which he called for limited government

Amendment that gave congress the right to collect an income tax
