Discuss: The Boston Massacre.

A

March 5,1770 British soldiers had just received new red coat uniforms. From that point on the British were know as “Red Coats.” Several soldiers were guarding the tax house. A crowd began to gather and make fun of the soldiers and their new uniforms. A loud sound goes of and the soldiers panicked and fired into the crowd. Six colonists wounded and five were killed including a black man named Crispus Attacks. Governor Thomas Hutchinson ordered those nine soldiers to be arrested and put on to trial. John Adams was a colonial lawyer and one of the main leaders for the colonies. He decided to defend the soldiers in trial. The reason he defended the soldiers was to show the colonies that everybody deserves fair treatment, and England was not giving the colonies that. He was a very good lawyer. Only two soldiers were found guilty and they had only miner punishment. Their thumbs got branded.

A

Sam was John’s cousin. He organized a committee of correspondence, its purpose was to keep the colonies informed.
