What did William use the Feudal System for
He used it to govern England. He also used it in Normandy

Nobles-dukes-lords

What were the rewards
The nobles would get land from the king
The knights would get a little less land from the nobles
The peasants would get small land from the Knights
What were the promises
The nobles promised to be loyal and give troops for battles to the king
The knights promised to be loyal to the nobles and fight for them
The peasants promised to be loyal to the knights and look after thief land
Why did William need the domesday book
To find out what tax people paid and to check it was fair tax. He could also find out who owned what
What does Domesday mean
It means Judgement day
Why did William want the research on the Domesday book to be taken so thoroughly.
Because he did not want another event like the harrying of The North to happen. He also wanted everything to be in line and secure. And he did not want to be beaten
What was trial by ordeal
Trial by ordeal was a Norman punishment which you could face if you did not take part in Williams surveys
