What is PLAR?
Prior Learning Assessment Recognition.
Briefly describe the appeals process for certification.
- An appeal must be filed within 30 days of the notice of unsuccessful certification.
- The appeal must be filed in writing and be accompanied by the appropriate fee.
- The appeal will be heard by the IETO Board within 90 days after the appeal was received.
- After the hearing, the IETO Board will determine the outcome of the appeal through a majority vote.
What is FARPACTA?
Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Compulsory Trades Act, 2006.
What is the purpose of the professional member identification stamp?
The stamp establishes the members identity and his/her responsibility for the work bearing the stamp.
What 3 things might members be censured for?
- Professional misconduct.
- Incompetence as an engineering technician/technologist.
- A breach of ethics.
What are the possible actions of the Complaints Committee when a complaint against a member is received in writing?
- Direct the matter to the Discipline Committee.
- Direct the Registrar to provide advice to the member complained against.
- Issue a caution or admonishment to the member being complained against.
- Take any appropriate action that is consistent with the Act or the By-Law.
- Do nothing.
What are the possible actions of the discipline Committee when a member is found to be guilty of professional misconduct or incompetent?
Any of the following actions;
- Revoke membership.
- Suspend membership.
- Impose specified terms, conditions or limitations on the member’s certification and membership.
