Called religious conference @ Hampton Court in 1604 (to establish how he wanted Church settled)
What did the Hampton Court conference show?
James was willing to listen to Puritan demands (firm believer in predestination, so not unsympathetic to some requests)

Why was the creation of the King James Bible only somewhat successful?
Some Puritans continued using Geneva Bible (contained marginalia reinforcing Pope’s authority rather than king’s)
