Chapter 9 - Eyes Flashcards
Human Vision
We can generate a 3D picture due to our binocular/sterascopic vision, because we have two forward facing eyes. This gives us I greater overlap in our fields of vision and the overlap allows us to judge distance and gives depth perception
Retina
Receives light and coverts it into neural signals
Sclera
Protection for the eye
Choroid
Helps absorb light, lessens glare and provides moisture for the back of the eye
Vitreous Humour
Gel liquid that fills the eye. It has to be clear for light to pass through
Ciliary Body
Releases the clear liquid called Aqueous Humour
Suspensory Ligaments
Muscles that adjust the lenses to make a clear image
Iris
Controls the diameter and size of the pupil
Lens
Can change the folocal distance of the eye
Pupil
Regulates the amount of light that enters the eye
Aqueous Humour
Provides pressure inflate the eye
Cornea
For protection and controls and focuses on the entry of the light
Fova
Central and sharp vision
Optic Nerve
Transfers the visual message to the brain
