Where is Birmingham authorised to provide a radar service?
Within 40nm of the ATZ up to FL195
When may 3nm separation be used?
- PSR is serviceable
- Between identified aircraft
- Below FL195
- Within 40nm of ATZ
- Same or co-located controllers
- Wake turbulence separation is maintained
What conditions apply when using Clee Hill SSR only?
- 5nm separation
- not used for separation outside controlled airspace
- 7 trail dots selected
- Pilots aware of limitations
- Deconfliction service shall not be provided
- IFR flights not descended below highest minimum sector altitude (2500ft) until within final approach area
- PC and TC advised
- Radar handover procedures SSR only
- Reduced Traffic Service may be provided
What conditions apply when using Claxby SSR only?
Conditions as per Clee Hill only, plus:
• No radar service provided below 3000ft
• No radar service provided outside controlled airspace
• Final approach spacing not less than 10 miles
• No IFR transits below 3000ft
• No instrument training
What extra check shall be made when operating on Claxby SSR only?
Range accuracy checks shall be made at least 15 minutes by correlating observed returns with aircraft position reports
Birmingham and Coventry departures may be identified at what range from the departure runway?
