What are peer-to-peer computers called?

How do nodes act on a peer-to-peer network?
They act as both clients and servers
What are peer-to-peer networks (workgroups)?
Any combination of WXP, WVista, W7, W8, and W10 machines connected by a centralized device (ie router / hub)
What is the downside to peer-to-peer networks?
Manageability, security, backups
What are the advantages to peer-to-peer networks?
Ability to share resources without needing expensive equipment, server software, or internal IT department
Advantages of Active Directory (AD)?
Centralized management, domain security, scalability, extensible schema
Disadvantage to AD model?
Cost and the need for IT personnel
What is the new W10 feature for configuring and deploying corporation-owned Windows devices?
Azure AD Join: registers the W10 device in the Azure AD. W10 devices authenticate directly w/o need of on site domain controller. This can all be done during OOBE
Domain Controller
A server that contains a replica of the AD database
Network Discovery
A setting that determines whether or not your W10 system can locate other devices on the network and vice versa

Computers, network printers, and specialized devices such as Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) and firewalls

Through the Properties dialog box, accessed from Network and Sharing Center, Computer Management, or Device Manager
