Chapter 9 Flashcards
Accuracy
Accuracy means that all aspects of the study systematically and logically follow from the research problem
Feasibility
Is the capability of the study to be successfully carried out
Extraneous variable
Interferes with the operation of the phenomenon of being studied
Homogeneity
As a control for these and other summer problems researcher protestant should be demonstrate homogeneity
Constancy
Refers to the ability of the data collection designed to hold the condition of the study to a cookbook like recipe
Internal validity
Is the degree to which the experimental treatment not an uncontrolled the condition resulted in the observed effect.
Maturation
Refers to the development of biological or psychological processes that operate within an individual as a function of time
Instrumentation threats
Are changes in the berry bowls or observational techniques that make account for changes in the obtained measurement
Selection bias
The threat to internal validity that arises when pre-treatment differences exist between the experimental group and a control group
External validity
Concerns the generalizability other investigations findings two additional populations and two other environmental conditions
Reactivity
Is defined as the participants responses to being studied
Hawthorne effect
Participants may have behave in a certain way with investigator not because of the study procedures but nearly as an independent response to being studied
Measurement affects
Administration of a pretest and a study affects generalizability of the findings to other populations
