Compliance
The process of doing as one is asked or as one is required by regulations.
Injunctive Norms
Norms that are perceived as being approved by other people.
Deindividuation
A loss of self-awareness in groups.
Normative Influence
Social influence that comes about because people wish to correct and accurate and therefore accept information from others.
Referent Informational Influence
Social influence to conform to a group norm because adherence to the group norm defines the person as a group member.
Minority Social Influence
Social influence processes whereby a minority group (in terms of numbers or power) changes attitudes of a majority group.
Conversion Theory
Miscovici’s cognitive account of how members of the majority process minority messages.
