Emancipation
The fact or process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions; liberation.
Chattels
A personal possession.
Abolitionist
A person who favors the abolition of a practice or institution, especially capital punishment or (formerly) slavery.
Speculators
Typically sophisticated, risk-taking investors with expertise in the markets in which they are trading and will usually use highly leveraged investments such as futures and options.
Townships
A small geographic area, range in size from 6 to 54 square miles, with 36 square miles being the norm.
Territory
An area of land under the jurisdiction of a ruler or state.
Annex
Append or add as an extra or subordinate part, especially to a document.
Quorum
The minimum number of members of an assembly or society that must be present at any of its meetings to make the proceedings of that meeting valid.
Anarchy
A state of disorder due to absence or no recognition of authority.
Bicameral
Having two branches or chambers.
Unicameral
Having a single legislative chamber.
The Bill of Rights
The collective name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution.
Disestablish
Deprive (an organization, especially a country’s national church) of its official status.
