Why should you pay attention to the number of main points in your speech?
If you have too many main points your audience get confused or lost.
What should you do with main points?
Select them carefully, phrase them precisely, and arrange them strategically.
What is chronological order?
A method of speech organization in which the main points follow a time pattern.
What is spatial order?
It follows a directional pattern. The main points proceed from top to bottom, left to right, front to back, inside to outside, east to west, or some other route.
What is casual order?
A method of speech organization in which the main points show a cause-effect relationship.
What is an internal preview?
A statement in the body of the speech that lets the audience know what the speaker is going to discuss next.
What are signposts?
A very brief statement that indicates where a speaker is in the speech or that focuses attention on key ideas.
Why are sign posts important?
Because properly applied connectives can make your speech more unified and coherent.
