Support/protect their head and neck when assisting to the floor, elevate feet, no food or beverage until they recover
What causes nerve injury?
Improper site or vein selection, inserting the needle too deeply or quickly =, excessive redirection, or blind probing
What do you do if initial vein entry is unsuccessful?
you can pull the needle back so only the bevel is in the skin, direction change and then advance forward
What nerve is associated with a “claw hand” nerve injury?
Ulnar nerve injury
What causes hemoconcentration?
The stagnation of normal venous flow due to the tourniquet
How to prevent hemoconcentration?
No pumping fist or leaving tourniquet on for only a minute
