Chapter 8.3 - Kirchoff's First Law Flashcards
1
Q
What is conservation of charge
A
- Electric charge can never be created nor destroyed
- In any interaction the total charge before and after must be the same
- The total amount of electric charge in the universe is constant
(Any of the above)
2
Q
What is Kirchoff’s first law
A
- For any point in an electrical circuit the sum of currents into a point is equal to the sum of currents out of that point
- Charge is conserved
3
Q
Explain the law
A
• Based on conservation of charge
-Charge cannot be destroyed
• Charge carriers at a point in given time is equal to total number of charge carriers leaving that point in that same time
