Q

How are triangle of forces drawn

A
  • Arrows are drawn to represent each of the 3 forces head to tail
  • Triangle is closed because net force is zero and object is in equilibrium

Q

How can you interpret the equilibrium of an object

A
  • Resultant of forces horizontally and diagonally must be equal in magnitude to the third force vertically but in the opposite direction
  • Resultant force vertically must be 0 and resultant force horizontally must be 0. Therefore diagonal force can be resolved into vertical and horizontal components
  • xcos° = horizontal
  • xcos° = vertical
