Q

Caution/advisory/warning panels - check as required (N, N)

A

(N) If LOW ROTOR RPM is pulsating in DIM mode - Any cautions or advisories may pulsate as well

(N) The lights on the VSI/HSI and CIS may change when testing the caution/advisories lights. Restore changed light afterwards.

Q

Flight Controls - Check first helicopter flight of the day (W, W, N)

A

(W) Ensure no personal gear is interfering with flight control.

Move gear to eliminate restriction of flight controls.

(W) If #1 or #2 PRI SERVO PRESS appears during collective movement, a servo bypass valve may be jammed. If so - Do not fly the helicopter

(N) Maximum 1.5 inches of free play during collective and pedal movement.

Q

Stabilator - Check (W, N)

A

(W) If any part of the stabilator check fails do not fly the helicopter.

(N) Use the right-side STAB POS indicator. The left indicator may vary with +/- 2°

Q

Engine(s) - Start (C, N, C, N, C, C)

A

(C) If start is attempted with ingition switch OFF, do not place switch ON. Abort the start.

(N) Do not use the FUEL BOOST PUMP CONTROL switches to extinguish the #1 or #2 FUEL PRESS lights.

(C) To avoid damage to starter, do not move EPCL from IDLE to OFF while pressing starter button.

(N) If ENGINE STARTER caution disappears with EPCL in OFF, manual press and hold starter until reaching 52-65%.

(C) If starting the engine within an hour of last shutdown, motor the starter for 60 seconds before advancing EPCLs.

(C) Keep cyclic and pedels centered and collective no more than 1 inch above full down until % RPM R reaches minimum 50%

Q

Emergency shutdown criteria (abort start)

A
  • No % RPM R within 45 seconds.
  • No TGT TEMP increase within 45 seconds.
  • No ENG OIL PRESS within 45 seconds.
  • ENGINE STARTER caution disappears (before 52% Ng)
  • TGT TEMP reaches 851° before idle is attained (63% Ng)

Q

Hydrauic leak test system - Check (N, N)

A

(N) If holding the switch in the test position, the system will not be checked, because the circuits is manual hold open.

(N) If backup pump is still running after test, move BACKUP HYD PUMP switch to OFF and the to AUTO.

16
Q

Collective friction - As required (N)

A

(N) 3 pounds of friction should prevent pilot induced oscillations (PIO) on the collective

17
Q

Operational Engine HIT/ANTI-ICE check - Accomplish (W, N, W, W, C, N)

A

(W, N, W, W, C) Do not memo - refer to HIT checklist in logbook

(N) Perform HIT check into wind. Reposition helicopter if neccesary.

18
Q

APU CONTR switch - ON (N)

(during parking and shutdown)

A

(N) If external power is required for shutdown, connect the external power and move EXT PWR switch to reset and then to ON.

If external ac power is not available, complete shutdown on right engine first.

19
Q

Generators NO.1 and NO.2 switches - OFF (N)

A

(N) When moving EPCL from FLY to IDLE or generator switch is moved to OFF position, an uncommanded right or left pedal drive (1/4 inch) may accour before returing to neutral within 3 seconds.

20
Q

Engine Power Control levers - IDLE (C, C)

A

(C) Maintain cyclic in neutral position, or slightly into wind, pedel centered, and collective no more than 1 inch above full down position.

(C) Restrict rate of EPCL is movement, to avoid helicopter turning.

21
Q

Droop stops - Verify in, about 50% RPM R (C)

A

(C) During not increase collective during coast-down to prevent damage of anti-flap stops.

22
Q

ENG POWER CONT levers - OFF after 2 minutes a Ng SPEED of 90% or less. (C, N)

A

(C) If shutting engine down from high power setting (above 90% Ng) without 2 minutes cool-down, a restart (if needed) should be done within 5 minutes. If restart cannot be done within 5 minutes, the engine should have 4 hours of cool-down

(N) If droops do not go in during shutdown, try following:

  1. Shutdown one engine to lower RPM R
  2. Accelerate rotor til above 75% RPM R
  3. Repeat shutdown while displacing cyclic slightly
  4. if droop stops still does not go in, clear rotor disc area and proceed with shutdown
