Chapter 5 (warning, caution, notes) Flashcards
Instrument Marking Color Codes (N)
Note
- Intrument marking color codes may differ from actual limits.
- Use appropriate digital readout as primary source.
Engine Start Limits (C)
Caution
Engine start attempts at or above a pressure altitude of 18,000 feet could result in a Hot Start.
Fuel Limitations (C)
Caution
Due to fuel volatility, when converting from JP-4 to JP5/JP-8, three heliopter refueling operations must be completed before performing operations with Fuel Boost Pumps Off.
Cargo Hook Weight Limitation (N)
Note
After first mission carrying an external cargo hook load exceeding 8,000 pounds, make an entry on DA Form 2408-13-1 and an inspection must be made.
Slope landing Limitations (C, N, N)
Caution
When performing slope landings with external fuel tanks, ensure tank to ground clearance.
Note
Transmission oil pressure will drop during nose-up slope operations.
10° slope angle: 30 - 35 PSI is a normal indication
15° slope angle: 10 - 15 PSI is a normal indication
Note
The LOW FUEL PRESS may appear when:
- Returning to neutral after extended operation at nose down attitudes with Fuel Boost Pumps off
- Pitch-up maneuver after a climb to high altitude.
If lights disappears immediately, no action is required by the pilot.
Flight in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (N)
Note
At airspeeds above 100 KIAS, the ice rate meter will indicate higher than actual conditions.
Flight in Icing Conditions (N)
Note
Helicopters equipped with blades coated with Advanced Erosion Protection Coating (HONTEK) are authorized for flight into icing conditions.
External Extended Range Fuel System Kit Configurations (N)
Note
Flight with 450-gallon external tanks is prohibited unless operating under an Airworthiness Release from U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command.
Gust Lock Limitations (W)
Warning
Before engine operations can be performed with gust lock engaged, all main rotor tiedowns shall be removed.
