Chapter 8- Nervous Systems Flashcards
(22 cards)
What is the CNS?
The central nervous System that consists of the brain and spinal cord
What is PNS?
Peripheral nervous system this is the four pairs of cranial nerves and 31 pairs of spinal nerves
What is ANS?
Automatic nervous system a subdivision of PNS which controls the motor functions of the internal organs
What is a cell body?
Hey so body contains the nucleus and most of the cytoplasm
What is a dendrite?
The process dessins the airport towards the cell body
What is a axon?
The process that says impulses away from the cell body
What is Neurilemma?
I think covering along the action that is external to the myelin which is present for most regeneration of the axon
Sensory (afferent)
Send signals towards the central nervous system it has long dendrites and a short axon
Motor (efferent)
Sends signals away from the central nervous system and has short dendrites or the dendrite maybe absent in the action as long
Interneuron
Found between sensory and motor units which is contained within the central nervous system
What is the histology of neuroglia?
Support regulation and protection of neurons
Myelinated axon
Transmit ACH potential faster
Ventricles?
HAs 4 hollow spaces within the brain
What is the CSF?
Cerebrospinal fluid which is on the outside of the spine
Histology of neural tissue?
Neurons for processing transferring and storage of information
Neuroglia for support regulation and protection of neurons
What is the synaptic transmission?
A neuron develops in action potential
The action potential triggers the release of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine
The neurotransmitter excites the next sale located on the other side of the synapse
Sorry I’m begins to diffusing to the postsynaptic cell starting the development of its action potential
The neurotransmitter is broken down for transportation away from the synapse
What is a receptor?
A group of cells that detects a stimulus example during a knee-jerk patellar reflex
What is the sensory neuron?
Since impulses from one point of the stimulus to the central nervous system also known as CNS
Interneuron?
The central nervous system that since impulses from one sensory neuron to the motor neuron
What is the motor neuron?
The neuron that says imposes to the a factor for spinal cord reflexes
What are reflexes?
An automatic response that depends on the activation of the components of the reflex arc
What are the components of the reflex arc?
Receptor, sensory neuron, interneuron, motor neuron, effector , reflexes
