A disruption in the abiility to understand or produce language caused by localized brain damaga or dysfunction

A
People with damage to this region could comprenhend speech but had difficult with speech output.
Left hemisphere critical for speech output

What are typical lesion of Broca’s aphasia?
A
Anterior to the section of the motor strip responsible for control of the face. Involves white matter and subcortical connections.

What is Wernicke’s Aphasia ?
A
Inability to link a sound image to meaning.
Disrupted speech comprehension, but still speech output is fluent.
