What’s the difference between ~지요 and 어요/아요?
~지요 is a request for confirmation or agreement about what the speaker believes to be true (an assumption made by the speaker that needs confirmation) while 어요/아요 a regular question is. It asks for new information without any assumptions from the speaker.
