Describe the clinical manifestations of bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa.
Anorexia: recurrent food refusal, leading to dangerously low body weight.
Bulimia: recurrent episodes of uncontrolled excessive eating followed by compensatory actions to remove the food (vomiting, laxatives, excessive exercise)
Describe the multidimensional, integrative influences on the development of Jerry’s bulimia (Case #11).
Jerry was pressured by her parents to succeed in school and sports. She was abused by her brother (physically and sexually), One of her methods for coping was to control her weight and shape, PTSD, difficulty trusting people, history of depression, attempted suicide.

Describe the factors that make for good sleep hygiene. What kinds of things can be disruptive to sleep?
Allow the brain’s normal drive for sleep to take over, avoid caffeine and nicotine, establish a set bedtime routine, exercise during the day, eat a balanced diet.
Describe the multidimensional influences involved in the development of a sleep disorder.
Biological vulnerability – poor bedtime routines, caffeine and sleep stress (poor sleep hygiene)
What are the most effective treatments for sleep disorders?
Environmental treatments – phase delays, scheduling shift changes
