Confederation 4 makes a nation / 1867
In 1867, the first four provinces came together and joined to create Canada; Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. They joined together in hopes of solving many issues, some being the fear or America annexation, trade challenges and individual and regional rights.
Sir John A. Macdonald/ Sea to Sea
The BNA act was key to the development of Confederation. It was created by John A. Macdonald and George Etienne Cartier in hopes of reassuring the provinces that Confederation would be the best decision for each of them and the strengthening Canada.The BNA act outline the roles of the federal government while retaining an individual provincial control over their Affairs. The ACT guaranteed the new government of Canada would pay for a railroad linking the maritimes with central Canada. John A. MacDonald had a vision of Canada being connected from sea to sea with the railroad. He became our first prime minister, with Mentos by joining in 1870, BC Joining in 1871, Pei joining in 1873 and finally Alberta and Saskatchewan in 19 05 and Newfoundland in 1949
